Nickel facility restart, Botswana
MET63 evaluated complex mineralogy feedstocks for a dormant nickel facility and recommended open-pit recommissioning over surface feedstocks, then was retained to lead the ongoing restart.
Challenge
A dormant nickel facility required more than a technology evaluation. It needed a recommendation that would change the direction of the entire project and determine whether the restart was economically viable at all.
Outcome
MET63’s evaluation of complex mineralogy feedstocks identified open-pit recommissioning as significantly more viable than processing surface feedstocks. That recommendation improved the project’s Net Present Value and produced a technically grounded roadmap for refurbishment and restart. MET63 was retained to lead the restart. The work is ongoing.
