Nickel Flotation Plant (250 ktpm) Refurbishment Study, South Africa
MET63 delivered a CAPEX estimate, execution timeline and 10-year Life-of-Mine financial model to support a JSE-listed mining house’s decision on restarting a dormant 250 ktpm nickel flotation facility.
Challenge
A nickel flotation facility had been under care and maintenance for five years. To consider restarting, the client required a rigorous technical audit and a robust financial foundation to support the investment decision, addressing both asset condition and long-term production economics.
Outcome
MET63 conducted comprehensive site inspections and managed specialist sub-contractor investigations across electrical, controls, instrumentation, and fire and safety compliance. This process yielded a robust CAPEX estimate and a definitive execution timeline. The technical findings were integrated with the client’s strategic mining plan, analysing changing ore grades and metallurgical requirements to create an integrated production schedule. The final deliverable was a comprehensive 10-year Life-of-Mine financial model, providing a clear framework for both the investment decision and long-term operational viability.
